Monthly SST, Vector Wind, and Wind Speed

These maps show monthly vector winds, wind magnitudes, and sea surface temperatures for the globe for the month shown.

Vectors show the resultant monthly wind direction, and the vector length indicates the magnitude of the resultant wind. A vector scale in the lower-right-hand corner of the map indicates the length of the vector for a given speed, in units of m/s. Contours show the magnitude of the resultant monthly observed wind speed at a contour interval of 3 m/s. Color shading indicates the monthly sea surface temperature in units of °C.
